Tips About Journaling

Posted by Vargas Consulting on November 14, 2023

When I mention journaling to people I work with, some people seem receptive while others decide it’s not for them. Journaling is a way to express yourself when you may not be able to do it to others. I listed a few ways to get started with the journaling process.

Journaling can be done in a notebook with a pen and paper, on your phone, on your ipad or computer. You can find a journal anywhere. You can buy a journal online or at your local store. Some journals like journaling with they have prompts to tell you what to write about while others do not. Some journals have cute covers and others are plain. Make it your own and get something that describes your personality. It you get a plain spiral notebook, you can make it your own by desigining it any way you want.

Find the right time and place to journal. If you are someone who likes to stick to a schedule then journalingl at the same time and place may be for you. Time blocking journaling into your daily schedule may become a habit. For some, waking up early with a hot cup of tea or coffee may become a part of your routine. By the way, I have some coffe mugs with positive messages on my website and get you in the right mindset to begin your journey. You may decide journaling in the eveing or lunch works best for you. Looking for a place where you have privacy while allowing you to be in deep thought is something to consider. Everyone is different, so whatever helps you to be in the best mindset is what you should use. So, find a comfortable space, grab a pen or your computer and start writing.

When you begin to write, just do it without worrying about if it’s perfect. Don’t worry about your spelling our punctuation. Remember, this is for you. Decide on the amount of time you will write and how often you will do it.

Stay consistent. I hear from people I work with that they tried journaling once and it was great. They say their goal is to continue doing it but then life happens and it jounaling becomes an afterthought. I tell everyone give it a good try. Journal 3-4 days a week for a good month. If you think this is not something that is helpful, then stop. Always knowing, this is somehting you can give a try in the future.

While journaling about a touchy subject, if things become to emotially challenging, decide your next steps. You can stop journling at the moment or swich to a less heavy subject. You can always come back to this tough subject at another time.

Writing in a journal causes you to have clarity around your situations. Give it a try for a month and observe if you notice any changes within yourself. By the way, have some coffe mugs with positive messages on my website. If you would like to work with me or would like to respond to this blog, send request to [email protected]
